Sewage treatment plants

Wastewater treatment plants handle large volumes of liquid throughout the year. These facilities are often large investments and it is important to protect them from damage.

Protecting critical infrastructure and reducing electricity consumption

Reduced operating costs are possible by avoiding damage from corrosion and mold but also by reducing electricity consumption by choosing the right dehumidification technology.

A treatment plant can consist of a number of different types of rooms and spaces with different dimensions and with different levels and challenges of moisture.

Challenges

REX in wastewater treatment plantsThe challenges in a wastewater treatment plant often vary throughout the year. The temperature of the pipes varies with the fluid, and ventilated air varies in both temperature and moisture content.

Therefore, it is advisable to choose dehumidifiers that are equally effective at different temperatures and levels of relative humidity.

A high relative humidity level in turn attracts insects. The moisture load from open water surfaces presents a particular challenge. Importantly, a temperature difference is maintained between the air at the open water surfaces relative to the water, making the water a cold surface relative to the air. This limits the moisture load in the room by creating condensation on the cold water surface.

Our solution

The right relative humidity level (RH)

What is needed is a controlled relative humidity level (RH) to avoid condensation that can lead to corrosion and mold. Depending on the temperature of cold surfaces and the temperature of the air, it may require different levels of relative humidity to be established.

Installation

Wastewater treatment plants are a tough environment and our dehumidifiers are built and adapted for installations in water and sewage. Our technology does not require the installation of unnecessary ventilation pipes. This simplifies installation and significantly reduces the cost.

In addition, our dehumidification technology is equally energy efficient in cold and warm spaces, making it possible to save energy by lowering the temperature in spaces that are rarely used.

All our models of dehumidifiers can be relevant from small portable FLEX that can also be wall mounted, industrial REX to very powerful NEXT that can remove up to 500 kg of water per day.

All dehumidifier models are very easy to install!

Profitability calculation

An Airwatergreen FLEX dehumidifier consumes on average less than 400W and a REX consumes on average less than 2250W. In addition, all the energy used stays in the building and contributes to heating.

Product selection for treatment plants

For installations in wastewater treatment plants, all our dehumidifier models can be relevant.

REX in larger spaces, FLEX in smaller ones and NEXT in very large premises with high moisture loads.

We can assist with measurements and calculations and provide suggestions on how to design a suitable installation.

Our FLEX dehumidifier is ideal for a small to medium-sized space. REX has a capacity for large spaces and NEXT has a capacity of 240 or up to 480 liters of water/day – which may be needed in larger halls with open water beds.

Each installation is unique and should be adapted to the moisture load that applies there!

NEXT productReferences

Airwatergreen currently has a number of installations in wastewater treatment plants. In some cases the dehumidifier works independently towards the set desired moisture level (% RH) and in other cases it is connected to an existing monitoring system.

The products are built to withstand the harsh environment with few moving parts and well thought out material choices and an IP63 rating. For installation in wastewater treatment plants, we have developed special adaptations of the REX dehumidifier.

The air passing through the dehumidifiers is not only dehumidified but also filtered to capture dust and insects. This creates the conditions for a good working environment!
